About Us

This podcast series is the natural companion to the ground-breaking book, “Marlowe’s Complaint” by Peter Hodges. It looks at evidence surrounding the mystery of Christopher Marlowe’s suspicious alleged ‘death’ in Deptford in 1593. Also, it posits that Marlowe did not die, but that he wrote a shocking letter of complaint to his patron, Sir Thomas Walsingham, 5 years later!

The Caravan Theatre Company was founded in 1986 to promote new plays by American playwrights. It has produced over three dozen new plays in New York, New Haven, and now London. During the pandemic, it produced a series of Zoom performances featuring playwrights based in Connecticut with actors from around the globe. Its most recent project is Hidden In Plain Sight, a podcast with Julian Ng exploring the mysterious disappearance of Christopher Marlowe.

Carol Paxton

Carol Paxton has funded her lifelong addiction to reading by working as a programmer and database designer, mostly in Publishing.  Her interest in, and admiration for, Christopher Marlowe dates back to 1993 and has led her down the same slippery slope as J. M. Robertson – from considering how much ‘early Shakespeare’ was Marlowe’s work to the realisation that there is perhaps no break, but a continuum.

When not scouring the internet for more reading material, she can be found visiting castles and gardens along the English/Welsh border.

Thanks to modern technology, we were able to ‘meet’ both virtually and in person to work on this project together. Here we are in one of our Zoom sessions.
